Computers 9/10

Hello Leaf Fans!!
After viewing this video, what are your thoughts about personal "news"?
Should news be left for professionals to deliver to the world or should we be allowed to publish it ourselves?
Do you think that news should have a bias?
Do you think the professionals who process and interpret the news, have a bias?
Go visit your classmates blogs and comment on their answers to these questions. You might choose to agree or disagree with them.

Computers 9-10

Hello Leaf Fans!!

Today I would like you guys to find and interesting way to make people want to visit your blog.

For example you could upload a couple music videos and have people vote on a poll which was their favorite song!

Maybe you could pick an interesting news headline and ask people of their opinion.
I just heard on the news that a lion attacked its owner during a preformance in Vegas. You could ask things like should lions really be tamed? You could also add a link to the news cast or videos.

Tomas Kaberle

There were rumores that Kaberle and Ron Wilson were not seeing eye to eye. Kaberle's no trade clause dissapears this summer. Should the leafs get rid of Kaberle this summer or keep him around?
I would also like to point out that the leafs have once again officially missed the playoffs. Lets all stand and remove our hats....and pray to Tie Domi.

Hello Leaf Fans!

So today I wanna talk about the Phil Kessel trade. Phil Kessel was aquired from the Boston Bruins for a first round pick in 2010 and 2011. This means that the Bruins own our first rounds picks for 2 years!! The leafs are currently in 2nd last place which means we would get the 2nd overall pick. Taylor Hall is one of the talented young players who is up for draft and he will probably go to the bruins instead of the leafs. Do you think this was a bad move by Brian Burke? Is Phil Kessel worth more to the leafs than two 1st round picks?

E-Portfolio Proposal

The Chapin Sleightholm E-Portfolio will be available for viewing soon. I was told by some of my friends not to put too much effort in to creating an E-portfolio because employers do not look at them. However I was told by some friends this year that school divisions are now taking E-Portfolios into consideration. Either way my E-Portfolio will be an easy way for me to show employers my skills and strengths.

Why have you chosen to complete and E-Portfolio?

E-portfolios are good resources for employers to easily access your information. E-Portfolios can be nicer to look at than a resume because you can customize the colors and style. Pictures and videos can also be added. Should you acquire some new information that can be added to your portfolio you can easily update it with little effort. E-portfolios are also useful because employers can access your info at anytime and it saves trees!

What Professional uses does an E-Portfolio have for you?

Employers can access your E-portfolio at any time from the office or at home. My E-Portfolio can be used to attach carpentry plans and other types of resources that can be useful to people. E-Portfolios look professional in this age because technology and its uses are the norm in today’s society.

What content do you plan to include?

-Bio
-Experience-Internship report
-Teaching pictures
-Resume
-Coaching Experience
-Lesson Plans
-Projects Plans
-Philosophy

What graphic design considerations have you taken into account for the look of your E-Portfolio?

I plan to have a good balance between text and pictures. I want the website to have a good flow and be easy to navigate around the site. The site should be easy to read with no confusing statements or hard words. The site will have a nice feel to it by using colors that go well together. I plan to keep the site simple.

What concerns do you have about the process? How do you plan to address these concerns?

I only have 2 main concerns about the E-portfolio. The first is will employers actually look at my E-Portfolio after I have put this much time and effort in to creating it? The second concern is will I keep my E-portfolio up to date after this class is over if I am not forced to? I can cross my fingers and hope employers will consider my E-Portfolio but soon enough all employers will consider E-Portfolios I’m sure. As far as keeping my E-Portfolio up to date, I think that if it is being used to teach a class or hand in to new employers I will be able to keep it current.

Research Paper Proposal

Hello Leaf Fans!

I am thinking about doing my research proposal on proffesional development in educational technology. The reason i chose this is because students are being surrounded more and more by technology. Television, cell phones, billboards, computers ect are all a regular part of our students lives. In order to even come close to entertaining kids in my classroom as much as these technologies i'll need to use technology to my advantage. I will also focus on teachers who play the dumb card when it comes to technology and refuse to use these new advances.

Brodeur

Hello Leaf Fans,

Today I want to discuss Martin Brodeur's performance against the USA on Sunday. Brodeur got the second strait start on Sunday against the USA which resulted in a 6-4 loss. Durig the game Brodeur made some questionable decisions to play the puck when he probably shouldn't have. What do you guys think?

Review of Bloom's Taxonomy

Knowledge:
1. Students can collaborate on new ideas and learning
2. Proffesionals in the area can comment on the blogs
3. Easily updatable to ensure new knowledge is readily availible

Comprehension:
1. A new type of learning environment
2. No time contraints on posts (could be done at any time)
3. E-learning is the way of the future...why not get them started early?

Application:
1. Can be used to facilitate discussion within your class
2. Good reference abilities (posting link to references)
3. Can recieve comments from other proffesionals in the field about issues or ideas you have

Analysis:
Yes, because there is room for comments and editing. Static website simply include information that cannot be edited or commented on. Blogs facilitate discussion in order to come to a conclusion about a problem.

Synthesis:
The stronger the push towards E-learning the more blogs will be utilized. Blogs will become a major part of students lives both for socializing and educating themselves and others.

Evaluation:
1. Loss of social skills
2. No concrete guidline or manners of conduct on blogs
3. Less of a roll for teacher in the traditional sense

J.S Giguere

Hello Leafs fans!

So as most of you already know the leafs beat the Devils last night in Toronto 3-0. J.S Giguere newly accuired from the Ducks posted a shut out. Giguere was only the second goalie to post a shut out in his debut...the first being Eddy (the eagle) Belfour. Phaneuf got in a fight in the first period and Sjorstrom assisted on the first goal of the night. The new look leafs are doiong okay so far...will it continue??
