The Chapin Sleightholm E-Portfolio will be available for viewing soon. I was told by some of my friends not to put too much effort in to creating an E-portfolio because employers do not look at them. However I was told by some friends this year that school divisions are now taking E-Portfolios into consideration. Either way my E-Portfolio will be an easy way for me to show employers my skills and strengths.
Why have you chosen to complete and E-Portfolio?E-portfolios are good resources for employers to easily access your information. E-Portfolios can be nicer to look at than a resume because you can customize the colors and style. Pictures and videos can also be added. Should you acquire some new information that can be added to your portfolio you can easily update it with little effort. E-portfolios are also useful because employers can access your info at anytime and it saves trees!
What Professional uses does an E-Portfolio have for you?Employers can access your E-portfolio at any time from the office or at home. My E-Portfolio can be used to attach carpentry plans and other types of resources that can be useful to people. E-Portfolios look professional in this age because technology and its uses are the norm in today’s society.
What content do you plan to include?-Bio
-Experience-Internship report
-Teaching pictures
-Resume
-Coaching Experience
-Lesson Plans
-Projects Plans
-Philosophy
What graphic design considerations have you taken into account for the look of your E-Portfolio?I plan to have a good balance between text and pictures. I want the website to have a good flow and be easy to navigate around the site. The site should be easy to read with no confusing statements or hard words. The site will have a nice feel to it by using colors that go well together. I plan to keep the site simple.
What concerns do you have about the process? How do you plan to address these concerns?I only have 2 main concerns about the E-portfolio. The first is will employers actually look at my E-Portfolio after I have put this much time and effort in to creating it? The second concern is will I keep my E-portfolio up to date after this class is over if I am not forced to? I can cross my fingers and hope employers will consider my E-Portfolio but soon enough all employers will consider E-Portfolios I’m sure. As far as keeping my E-Portfolio up to date, I think that if it is being used to teach a class or hand in to new employers I will be able to keep it current.
